Deloris Kennedy

Deloris Kennedy of Jollytown Road, New Freeport, PA died unexpectantly Monday, March 4, 2002 in the Greene County Memorial Hospital in Waynesburg, PA.

She was born at Littleton, WV a daughter of the late P. B.  and Myrtle Booth Gorby.  Mrs. Kennedy was a farmer and livestock grower who grew Herford and Angus Cattle and raised sheep at one time.  She was a member of the New Freeport Church of Christ and the New Freeport Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxillary.  She served as a Greene County Democratic Committeewoman from Gilmore Township.  She was also secretary of the Greene County Democratic Committee.  She was always active in community projects in her community.  She enjoyed helping others and was always interested in her community.

Surviving are one son, Earl Wayne Kennedy of Lehigh Acres, Florida; a daughter Elizabeth Kennedy of Jollytown Road, New Freeport, PA; one brother, Zinn Gorby of Chagrin Falls, Ohio; two sisters, Jeraldine Eichberg of Towson, MD and Myrtleann Gorby of Hanoverton, Ohio; six grandchildren, Patrick Kennedy, Robert Kennedy, E. W. Kennedy, Jason Ammons, Erica Russell and Rachel Russell; two great grandchildren, Aurora Kennedy and Joseph Kennedy; numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Blaine Kennedy on August 24, 1996; a sister, Rosedale Miller; a daughter, Jo Ann Kennedy who died as an infant; and a brother, Harry Richard Gorby.

Friends may call at the Tennant Funeral Home in Hundred, WV from 2-9 PM Wednesday.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday in the New Freeport Church of Christ with the Evangelist Frank Love officiating.  Interment will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Corner Cupboard Food Bank of Greene County or to the American Heart Association.
