Samuel E. Hunt

Samuel E. Hunt, 83, of Canton, Ohio, formerly of Burton, WV died Sunday, March 4, 2001 in the Mercy Medical Center.

He was born January 5, 1918 in Burton, WV  a son of the late Earnest L. and Georgia Moss Hunt.  Mr. Hunt was a member of the Harmony Baptist Church in Burton.

He was a World War II United States Army Veteran who served from 1941 to 1945 in the 531 Combat Engineers Regiment and the invasions of North Africa and Normandy.  He was retired with 30 years of service from Canton Drop Forge Company.

Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Airetta Delaney Hunt; a son Kim C. Hunt, of Canton, OH; three sisters, Ruth Ice and Margaret Martens both of Burton, WV and Agnes Cline of St. Clairsville, OH; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Hunt of Burton and Lorraine Hunt of Canton, OH;  several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Thomas, Joseph and George L. Hunt.

Friends may call at the Tennant Funeral Home in Hundred, WV from 12:00 noon to 1:00 P.M. Saturday, March 10, 2001.  Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. with the Rev. Warren Martens officiating.  A flag presentation will be made by the Earl Kiger American Legion Post #120 of Hundred.  Interment will follow in the Harmony Cemetery in Burton.
