In Loving Memory Of


Lucille Mae Hockenberry Strosnider, 88, of Blacksville, died Thursday, August 19, 2004 at her residence.

She was the third child born to Rev. and Mrs. James F. Hockenberry at Josephine, PA on August 3, 1916.

During the 1930's she worked for Judge Robinson at the now restored Adaliad Mansion located at Philippi, WV. Later she was employed at the home of the late Mr. & Mrs. Earl Strosnider of Blacksville. In 1954 she married Walter "Pinky" Strosnider. She attended the Blacksville United Methodist Church where she taught the young children's class for many years. In her later years, she was an avid reader and loved to work her Find A Word puzzles. She was a loving mother and grandmother and found great satisfaction in watching the birds.

Surviving are one son, Michael Strosnider of Blacksville; two daughters, Ann Bragg of Blacksville and Joleen Hardeman of Annapolis, MD. Four grandchilren, Garry Rush of Fairview, Denita Smith of Morgantown, Jeffrey Rush and wife, Mary Alice of Blacksville, and Bobbi Jo Collet of Glen Burnie, MD. Great-grandchildren include Samantha Rush, Jamie Rush, Zackery Rush, Brian Rush, Shane Smith, Lucas Smith and Gage Jack. One great-great-grandchildren, Evelyn Rush. Three brothers, Frank Hockenberry of Wadestown, Lloyd Hockenberry of Elyria, OH and Lyle Hockenberry of Gladesville; three sisters, Dorcas Crawford and Lois Hockenberry both of Grafton, Joyce Howell of Perryopolis, PA and sister-in-law, Anna Margaret Moore of Fairview, plus several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband "Pinky", a grandson, Larry Rush; brothers, Eugene Hockenberry, Robert Hockenberry, James Hockenberry, Marlin Hockenberry, and Leonard Hockenberry; sisters, Eva Richmond, Mary Black, Virginia Boyles, Martha Phillips, and Ruby Reed; a son-in-law, Bobby Joe Rush and brother-in-law, Harold Moore.

Friends may call at the Owen-Neely Funeral Home in Blacksville from 2-4 & 7-9 PM Monday. Honoring her request the funeral service will be held in the Blacksville United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Lancaster officiating. Interment will follow in the Blacksville Cemetery.
