In Loving Memory Of


            Carmel Gary “Peachy-Brook” Brookover Sr., 85, of Daybrook, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, June 17, 2017.

            He was born April 15, 1932 in Jakes Run, a son of the late Clyde Brookover and Mary Elizabeth Hillberry Brookover.

            He served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Korean War where he was stationed in Newfoundland and Greenland.  Carmel worked as district manager of Midwest Production Company and also worked for Penn Line Service.  He was a member of the Jakes Run Assembly of God.  He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Mannington Lodge #31 AFAM as well as the Shriners.  He was a member of the Leetonia Ohio American Legion Post 131 and the VFW Post 5532 in Washingtonville, Ohio.  After retiring he worked as a security guard for Huntington Bank as well as Mylan Pharmaceuticals.

            Survivors include his children, Anita Wise and her husband Bob, Norman “Abe” and wife Linda Brookover, Bonny and her husband George Neer, Debbie and her husband Don Keeler, Gary and his wife Barb Brookover, Dave Henderson; grandchildren, Michael Wise, Heather, Honey and Zachary Brookover, Ronnie Brookover, Calvin and Amanda McElroy, Kelly Cupec, and Brittany Brookover; fourteen great-grandchildren; and one sister, Celia Askew of Hudson Florida.

            Carmel was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Peach Brookover and one sister, Clysta Mary Rolhand.

            Friends may call at the Owen-Neely Funeral Home, 5894 Mason-Dixon Highway, Blacksville, WV from 2-4 & 7-9 PM Wednesday.  Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 AM Thursday with Rev. Freddie Eddy, II officiating.  Interment will follow in the Olive Cemetery at Pentress.

            In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to either the Clay-Battelle High School Girls Basketball Team, PO Drawer A, Blacksville, WV   26521 or to the Clay-Battelle Senior Center, PO Box 176, Blacksville, WV   26521.

            The VFW Post 9916 from Westover will perform military rites at the graveside.
