LEORA MAE CORDER

          Leora Mae Corder, 80, died at her Miracle Run home with family by her side.

          She was born January 8, 1942 in Core, WV to the late Francis and Helen Tennant.

          She was a strong woman with many talents and interests.  After a car accident that took her husband and son George, she created a new home and good life for her and her youngest son, Duane.  She opened a Christian book store and craft store.

          Leora was very creative and was an excellent seamstress and loved making quilts to give to family. 

          She also had a great love of flowers and being outside enjoying nature.  She had many flower gardens and loved watching her plants pop up in spring.

          Leora was a gifted cook and showed her love by baking her famous cinnamon rolls and delivering them to someone who needed a smile or taking them to church socials.  Her skills for cooking led her to work for the Monongalia County School System as a cook.  She retired after 20 years as the Cafeteria Manager at Mason-Dixon Elementary.

          Leora found her loving husband, Delbert and was married for 30 years.  They shared many common interests.  Often working side by side on projects and making a beautiful home together.

          Surviving is her loving husband, Delbert Corder; daughter, Sharon Smith (Phil Smith); Son Duane Sayers (Vicki Sayers); Step-son, Danny Corder (Denice Corder), Step-son, Denny Corder (Sherri Corder), Step-son, Darrell Corder (Tonya Corder); Grandchildren, Brandon Smith, Brooke Arnold, Brittany Saunders, Jonathon Sayers, Faith Sayers, Grace Sayers, David Corder, Chloe Corder, Tiffany Kayla, Allen Corder, Christiana Householder, Kevin Walters, Darren Corder, Taylor Potoczny, Amber Moore and Angie Marietta; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and her brother, Mahlon Tennant of Painsville, OH.

          Leora was preceded in death by her husband, George D. Sayers; son, Douglas Sayers, son, George Sayers; step-daughter, Dolly Rush; parents, Minor and Helen Tennant; sister, Shirley Tuttle, and sister Ellen Haines.

          Friends may call at the Bula Baptist Church, 7337 Mason-Dixon Highway, Wana, WV   26590 from 4 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, November 8, 2022.  Funeral services will be held in the church at 11:00 AM Wednesday with Pastor Drew Reveal officiating.  Interment will follow in the Park Cemetery on Miracle Run.

          The Owen-Neely Funeral Home in Blacksville, WV is in charge of arrangements.
