GARNET BUTCHER

          Garnet Rose Butcher, 80, of Boothsville, WV died December 23, 2022 at United Hospital Center following an extended illness.  Garnet was born May 15, 1942 in Littleton, WV, and was raised by her maternal grandmother, Bessie Stottlemire.  She served on the Littleton town council and VFW’s women’s auxiliary.  Garnet was a homemaker, dedicated wife and mother, grandmother to her grand-dog, Ginger, an avid cinch player, crafter and cook who loved to square dance.

          She loved kids and babysat nieces, nephews and cousins.  Garnet was a PTA mom and was always assisting in fundraising for the schools or VFW functions.

          Garnet was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Richard Lee Butcher; maternal grandmother, Bessie Stottlemire; brother, Olen Clay “Buck” Gorby; sister, Wilma Lee Morris; and three uncles whom she was raised with—William Stottlemire, Homer Stottlemire, and Benny Stottlemire.

          Surviving is her daughter Amanda Jo Butcher of Boothsville; sister Mary Jane Cain and her husband Robert “Bobby” Cain of New Jersey; and many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.

          Friends and family may call at the Tennant Funeral Home, 2678 Hornet Highway, Hundred, WV from 5-7 PM on Wednesday December 28, 2022.  Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 AM Thursday with Evangelist Steve Stevens officiating.  Interment will follow in the Sancho Cemetery near Hundred.

          In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at Stjude.org/donate.
