Ricky E. “Zeke” Hayes, 68, went to be with his Lord on June 9, 2023, at Friendship Village Health Care Facility, Tempe AZ.
He was born October 21,1954 in New Martinsville, WV., a son of Howard W. Hayes and Ora Pearl Morris Hayes. He served in the United States Navy for 13 years and then went on to work in the telecommunications industry as a Systems Trainer and then a Senior Systems Engineer. It is said that he was the best trainer “teacher” they ever had.
Surviving is a brother Howard Hayes and “adopted” brother Mark (Sandy) Poe a niece Alicia (Shawn) Bragg, several nephews; Dick (Jen), Tim (Susan), Rob (Sherry), John (Melissa), Brandon (Danielle), Cory (Raquel), and Kurtis Hayes. A sister-in-law Sharon Hayes, several great and great-great nieces and nephews. Also surviving are his long - time friends in Arizona that were very special to him, Chuck and Mary Mills and Jerry Nanson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Linda Hayes; two brothers, Timothy A. Hayes and Kenneth L. Hayes, and one great-nephew Timothy A. Hayes III.
Uncle Rick was a giving man. He loved camping in the mountains of Arizona, coming home to WV for Thanksgiving, hunting, and visiting the Amish Country in Ohio. We will always remember his homemade noodles and peanut butter blossom cookies. The kids could not wait for him to come home to cook and bake with them.
Friends may call at the Tennant Funeral Home in Hundred from 6-8 PM Friday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 AM Saturday. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park in New Martinsville.
