JANET R. PIERCE

          Janet R. Pierce, 85, of Deep Valley, PA died Thursday, September 28, 2023 at her residence.

          She was born May 6, 1938, at Strabane, PA, a daughter of the late Elton Hartman and Mamie Bitonti Hartman.

          Mrs. Pierce loved going to the country music shows held at various locations in the area.  She was very active with the New Freeport Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary in her earlier years.

          She attended the Church of Christ.

          Surviving are two sons, Phil Moyers and Marty Moyers, both of the New Freeport, PA area; two sisters, Leona Hartman of Canonsburg, PA and Emily Hamilton of Princeton, MN; and four grandchildren, Catherine Jean Moyers, Richard W. H. Moyers, Kevin Ean Thompson, and Adaline Hibbs.

          In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, William R. Moyers and James Pierce; and one brother, Elton “Eddy” Hartman.

          Friends may call at the Tennant Funeral Home, 2678 Hornet Highway, Hundred, WV from 4:00 to 6:00 PM on Wednesday, October 4, 2023.  A memorial service will be held at 6:00 PM with Rev. Steve Parkhill officiating.
