Daryl Lee Chaney Sr., 70, passed away peacefully in his sleep, February 4, 2017.
He was born on his family farm in Holbrook, November 23, 1946, to George and Grace Moore Chaney.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Veronica Chaney; his children, Daniel Chaney Sr. (Karen), Tim Chaney Sr. (Mary), Carla Zaccone (Jason), Darla Geracia (Timothy) and Daryl Chaney Jr. (Sarah); his brother, Jerry Frost; grandchildren Daniel Jr., Michael, Richard, Nathaniel, Tim Jr., Brooklynn Cheyenne, Isaac, Cameron, Lilli, Annabell and Colton; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He also leaves behind his furry companions, Bo Bo and Jesse.
He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as siblings Ethel Louise, Carolyn, Shirley, Marquis and son, Marquis.
He was a devoted husband and father who always placed his family first. He enjoyed spending his days on the family farm that was passed down to him. He loved to pass on his wisdom and values to his children. He was a man of his word and someone who could be counted on by all in a time of need. He was a funny and outgoing person who enjoyed the fellowship of his many friends. He was a lifelong member of Bethany United Methodist Church and was known as a man who truly believed in God. His other passions and hobbies included traveling, hunting, coin collecting and experiencing food of many cultures. He was a 1965 graduate of West Greene High School and served four years in the U.S. Navy. Prior to retiring, he was a powerhouse engineer for U.S. Steel for more than 30 years and a U.S. postal contractor for 24 years. He also ran the family farm.
Friends may call at the Tennant Funeral Home at 2678 Hornet Hwy, Hundred, WV, on Tuesday February 7 from 2-4 and 7-9. Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday with Rev. Gale Cobb officiating. The funeral will be held in the Bethany Church on Nettle Hill.
