Garnet Louise Carter, 81, of Graysville, PA died Sunday, August 24, 2014 at her residence.
She was born February 28, 1933 at Hundred, WV, a daughter of the late Jasper Reed and Nora Strope Reed.
Mrs. Carter formerly worked at Vitro Laboratories and was a microfiche reader for the Department of the Defense in Washington DC. For many years Garnet had her own ceramic shop in Hundred and she served as an aide at Hundred High School.
Garnet was a member of the Ryerson Baptist Church.
Surviving are two daughters and their spouses, Eve Weaver and her husband Donley of Graysville, PA and Dawn Cunningham and her husband Bill of Dunbar, PA; four brothers, Richard Reed of Bristol, VA, Jasper E. Reed, Jr. of Madison, Wisconsin, Joseph Thomas of Athens, GA, and Frank Abbott of Philadelphia, PA; two sisters, Rose Klonda of Burton, OH and Rosalind Jaques, Menomiee, Michigan; three grandchildren, Garnet Louise Druhot, Samantha Nora Cummingham VanSickle, and Donovan Lee Weaver; eight great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and three step-sons.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Edward Druhot, her second husband, Lloyd Carter; two sisters, Rebecca Reed and Connie Reed; two brothers, James Reed and Ronald Reed; and two step-sons.
Friends may call at the Tennant Funeral Home, 2678 Hornet Highway, Hundred, WV from 5-9 PM Wednesday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 AM Thursday with the Pastor Tim Lindsey officiating. Entombment will follow at Greene County Memorial Park near Jefferson, PA.
