Gerald W. "Cob" Michael, 94, of Blacksville, WV died Wednesday, August 17, 2011 in the Sundale Nursing Home in Morgantown.

He was born September 26, 1916 at Fairview, a son of the late Lee Michael and Stella Whetzel Michael.

Cob was a retired pipefitter and he was a member of the Pipefitters Union for the past 59 years.

Surviving are one son and his wife, George and Brenda Michael of Blacksville, and one daughter, Sondra Copeland and husband Bill of Melrose, FL; one sister, Lenora "Toots" Kay of Wisconsin; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Debbie Morris, Diana and her husband Nick Dampier of Waldo, FL, Donna and her husband Lee Simpson of Keystone Heights, FL, Tonya and her husband Doug Smerdell, Terry Shriver and his wife Angela of Daybrook, Tina and her husband David Bragg, Brian Michael and his wife Christina, Tara and her husband Brian Kurcaba of Morgantown; fifteen great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Michael was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ruby Jane Michael who died on November 6, 1993; one daughter, Barbara Shriver; and two brothers and three sisters.

A graveside service was held at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 20, 2011 at the Daybrook Cemetery with the Rev. Rose Saunders officiating.

Interment followed in the Daybrook Cemetery.
