Gladise (Petie) Mason, 83, of Fairmont, formerly of Hundred, WV died Wednesday, October 20, 2004 in the Fairmont General Hospital, Fairmont, WV.
She was born March 29, 1921 at Wadestown, WV, daughter of the late Edward F. Delaney and Jessie M. Watson Delaney.
Petie was a housewife and a homemaker. She worked as a cook at the Hundred Grade School for many years. She moved from Hundred in 1975 and had lived in Fairmont. She enjoyed traveling with her husband Hub, and listening to the gospel group that he sang in called the Gospel Echoes. She was a member of the Coon's Run Baptist Church of Fairmont and had been attending the Highland United Methodist Church in Fairmont.
Surviving are her husband of sixty-six years, Herbert "Hub" Mason; one daughter, Patricia Ann Jacobs of Waynesburg, PA; one sister, Beatrice Stab of Wheeling, WV; one brother, Johnny E. Delaney, of Wadestown, WV; three grandchildren, Robert Holmes of Rivesville, Greg Jacobs and Melinda Taylor, both of Waynesburg; and three great-grandchildren, Drew Holmes, David Holmes, and Megan Taylor.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death a brother, Harry E. Delaney, who died as an infant.
Friends may call at the Tennant Funeral Home in Hundred from 2-9 PM Friday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 1:00 PM Saturday with the Pastor Tim Brower officiating. Interment will follow in the Wadestown Cemetery.
