JAMES P. KENNEDY James Perry Kennedy, 94, of Laurel Point, formerly of the Wadestown area died on August 30, 2023 at his home. He was born October 21, 1928 at Wadestown, a son of the late Luther Jackson Kennedy and Dessie Dora (Lemley) Kennedy. He was a member of the Valley Chapel United Methodist Church. He was a retired member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local #152. He had also worked for Peoples gas in Pennsylvania. Surviving are his five daughters; Kathy and Frank Martinelli of Carlisle, PA, Sharon Cheslock of Laurel Point, Carol and Robert Copeland of Burton, Kim and Jerry Tennant of Morgantown, and Kandy and Randy Earl of Core; eight grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Alberta L. (Moore) Kennedy; three brothers, Everett, Truman, and Herbert Kennedy; one sister, Hazel Kent; one son-in-law, Julian “Tiny” Cheslock; and two grandchildren, Tharron and Jill Earl. Friends may call at the Tennant Funeral Home, 2678 Hornet Highway, Hundred, WV from 6:00 PM to 8:PM on Saturday, September 2, 2023. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 1:00 PM Sunday, September 3, 2023 with Rev. Rose Saunders officiating. Interment will follow in the Wadestown Cemetery.
