Learney D. Tennant, Jr. 86, of Blue Goose Road, Fairview, WV died Thursday, September 23, 2004 in the Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown of injuries sustained in an automobile accident on September 7, 2004.

He was born September 20, 1918 at Miracle Run, a son of the late Learney D. Tennant Sr and Bertha Mae Wilson Tennant.

Mr. Tennant was a retired construction superintendent for the Dick, Corp from Large, PA. He retired with 25 years of service for the company. He was an avid horseman and loved to go to horseshows and on trail rides. One of his great joys was attending the livestock auction in Waynesburg, PA each Thursday.

He was a member of the Waynesburg Church of the Nazerene.

Surviving are one son & daughter-in-law, L. Douglas & Vicki Tennant of Thomas Run; four daughters & three sons-in-laws; Jane & Gary Stiles of Burton, WV, Lynnette & Ted Lacy of Hudson, Florida, Brenda Smith of Lakeside, Ohio and Jenene & Tom Coleman of Wexford, PA.

Three brothers, Homer Tennant of Miracle Run, Stanley Tennant of Fairmont, and Billy Tennant of Fairview; three sisters, Marjorie Kiger of Fairmont, Mavis Lantz of Miracle Run, and Jean Berry of Mt. Morris; thirteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of more than 50 years, Helen Levaughn Moore Tennant who died in 1990. Three sisters, Helen Tennant, Pansy Lowther, and Violet Conner, and one brother Dwayne Tennant.

Friends may call at the Owen-Neely Funeral Home in Blacksville from 7-9 PM Friday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 1:00 PM Saturday with the Rev. John Poling officiating. Interment will follow in the Olive Cemetery at Pentress.
