Robert Wayne Estel, 90, of Macdale Community, Blacksville, WV died Saturday, October 2, 2004 in the Evergreen Assisted Living Center in Morgantown.
He was born January 3, 1914 at St. Leo, a son of the late Charlie Estel and Lillie Moore Estel.
Wayne was a retired construction worker and farmer. He was a member of the IOOF Lodge of Wadestown, a former boy scout leader, and he was chairman of the Clay-Battelle Senior Center Building Committee.
Wayne was a member of the St. Leo United Methodist Church. He served as a Sunday School superintendant for 27 years. He was a United States Navy Veteran having served in World War II in the Pacific Theatre. He was a 1932 graduate of Wadestown High School.
He loved hunting, fishing, and camping.
Surviving are his second wife, Virginia A. King Estel, whom he marrried on April 2, 1988; one son & daughter-in-law, William T. "Bill" & Melanie Estel of Wadestown; one daughter, Mary Jo Lemley, of Wadestown; one sister, Carrie Evelyn Estel, Wishing Well Manor, Fairmont; two step sons, Robert W. King of Mayfield, KY and William L. King of Oxford, Ohio; three grandchildren, Mary Ann Mullenax of Mannington, Daniel Estel of Cheat Lake, and Gregory S. Lemley of Mt. Morris, PA; three great-grandchildren, Maddie Mullenax, Mackenzie Mullenax, and Lacey Lemley; four step-grandchildren; and nine step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Beulah M. Lynch Estel. The couple were married on April 15, 1939, and Beulah died on October 27, 1979.
Friends may call at the Tennant Funeral Home in Hundred from 2-4 & 7-9 PM Monday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 AM Tuesday with the Rev. Rose Saunders officiating. Interment will follow in the Wadestown Cemetery.
