SARA LYALL MORRIS

America Lost another “Rosie the Riveter” December 2, 2022, as Sara Lyall Jobes Morris passed away at the Covenant Shores facility, on Mercer Island, Washington.  Born in Morgantown, West Virginia May 4, 1926 to Ada Delaney Jobes, recent widow of Herbert Jobes, who raised “Lyall” and her older sister Edis, in Hundred, West Virginia during the hard times related to the “depression,” until opportunity knocked for both mother and daughter during World War II when they became employed in the war effort at Westinghouse, in Fairmont, West Virginia, and worked on the home front to win the war.  Lyall married Garold W. Morris, of Hundred, January 20, 1945, in Savannah, Georgia, just prior to Garold’s deployment to England, where he served in the “Mighty 8th Air Force.”  Lyall lost her husband of 53 years later, but they shared those years vigorously, following fortune by living and working in Baltimore, Maryland where son Eric was born (Faye), as well as West Virginia, Ohio, Indiana, Colorado, and Pennsylvania, where surviving son Gary was born (Annie), and thereafter in Illinois, Minnesota, Iowa and finally, in 1969, Washington State, where they thrived and shared the blessings of daughter Kay and grandchildren, Sam, Walt, Emily, Mark, G. W. III, Bailee, and Corey, all of whom survive, (along with respective spouses Chanda, Valerie, Miles, Jessica, Alex, and Rob.)  Surviving great-grandchildren include Mega, Allie, Natalie, Gabrielle, Simon, Talia, Abbie, Emmitt, and Daniel.  Lyall attended Hundred High School, graduated from West Fairmont High School and continued her education via Dale Carnegie, Marycrest College and Bellevue Community College, where she obtained her Associate Degree.  Lyall was a 50- year member of the Bellevue Church of Christ.  Interment will be in the Thomas Cemetery in Greene County, Pennsylvania, where many generations of family rest with her husband.

All services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

The Tennant Funeral Home in Hundred, WV is in charge of arrangements.
